Chord Blaster


The Chord Blaster allows you to dial in a wide range of overdrive, distortion, and fuzz sounds using a unique combination of two EQ/gain controls. You can add some bite to a dark rig, fill out the sound of a vintage single coil, put some chunk into your rhythm playing, dial in a singing fuzzy lead sound, or just boost your signal without coloring the tone. The possibilities are endless.

Use the footswitch to turn the effect on and off. The LED lights up to indicate that the effect is on. The powered circuit is completely removed (true bypass) from your signal chain when the pedal is off. The Chord Blaster will only consume power when there is a cable plugged into the input jack and a battery or external power supply is connected.

Use the RED knob to adjust the amount of lower midKfrequency gain. These frequencies will distort and compress with a mild fuzzy character as you roll the knob clockwise.
Use the YELLOW knob to adjust the amount of the upper mid-frequency gain. These frequencies will distort with an openness that adds classic British-style crunch.

Turn the BLUE knob clockwise to add treble and counter-clockwise to add bass. Set this control at noon, and set the red and yellow knobs fully counter-clockwise to use the Chord Blaster as a transparent (depending on the output of your pickups) signal booster.
Use the GREEN knob to control the output volume.

Adjust the INTERNAL TRIMMER for more compressed fuzziness as you turn clockwise. Set this control to 3:00 or higher for a nice classic fuzz overtone with just the right amount of spit.


Configuration: As you look down at the Chord Blaster, the LED is near the top, and the on/off footswitch is near the bottom. The input and output jacks are along the top side, and the external power jack is along the left side. The input jack is the one on the right, and the output jack is the one of the left.

Power: You can power the Chord Blaster with either a 9VDC battery or an external power supply (9K20 VDC) with the commonly used centerKnegative barrel connector. The maximum current draw is 10mA.

Circuit: The Chord Blaster circuit uses a TL082 dual op amp. This component is positioned in a socket to allow swapping with other op amps for sonic experimentation. Be sure to only swap with op amps that have the same pin configuration as the TL082. If you have questions about acceptable replacement op amps, please contact
