Thank you for the purchase of the Majik Box Body Blow. With input from numerous artists other the years, countless prototypes and dozens of made to order versions of what became the Body Blow, we have developed and created what we feel is the perfect overdrive pedal. We hope you agree. Before plugging in, please make sure to use a high quality, discrete power supply such as a Pedal Power 2 or a Fuel Tank to power your Body Blow. For battery powered operation, please use a high quality alkaline such as a Duracell, or Energizer.

Also use the best quality cables available. These factors will significantly enhance the operation of the Body Blow.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. YOU MUST USE A CENTER NEGATIVE TIP ADAPTER ONLY. IF YOU’RE UNSURE IF THE ADAPTER YOU PLAN TO USE IS CENTER NEGATIVE TIP PLEASE EMAIL US AT: info@majikboxusa.com. ADAPTERS FOR PEDALS SUCH AS THE FULLTONE ‘69, SOULBENDER, OCTAFUZZ PEDALS, MOOGERFOOGER PEDALS AND MANY ELECTRO-HARMONIX PEDALS ARE CENTER POSITIVE. DO NOT USE AN ADAPTER FOR ANY OF THESE PEDALS.
  2. IF USING AC, PLEASE REMOVE THE BATTERY FIRST.
  3. THERE IS A KNOWN COMPATABILITY ISSUE WITH THE BOSS BCB 60 CARRYING CASE / AC ADAPTER. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING THIS UNIT WITH MAJIK BOX PEDALS.

The Body Blow was originally designed to replace several overdrive boxes on our personal pedal boards, since we are always interested in reducing clutter on pedal boards. One of the boxes we set out to replace was our Majik Box modded TS-808, a punchy sounding box with balls for days, but with added low mids and slightly more gain. The other was an LED clipping based overdrive pedal that we had created in our workshop that had a much different vibe. This box had even more gain and a thicker sound at the same time for a more modern vibe. We decided to offer both flavors in the Body Blow. Therefore, the vintage / modern switch became a main feature of the pedal. To really hear what this switch does, start with a clean sound on the amp.

The other unique feature is the body switch. We found that the bass response required from an overdrive varied greatly between amp set-ups. With the body switch off, you get an overdrive sound with a bass response similar to what you would find with our modded TS-808. With the body switch on, the tone becomes bigger, fuller and, well more full bodied. For Marshalls and most modern amps we usually like the body switch on.

For Fender or Vox type amps, we usually like the body switch off. But you’ll have to experiment. To really hear what the body switch does however, you’re going to have to crank it up.

The other knobs; volume, drive and tone are pretty much what you’re used to. Start with all the knobs at 5 (half way up) and tweak to taste from there. There is plenty of output gain available, so make sure that you use the output knob judiciously. Now plug in and let it rip.
