Spaceman Atlas III

The Atlas III is a medium-gain preamp booster. While relatively clean and transparent, the Atlas III adds subtle color and harmonic overtones, which become more apparent as you increase gain.

Specifically created for pushing the front end of tube amps, the Atlas III was designed to do so in a rich, warm way; while adding a touch of sparkle in the highs. The Atlas III obtains this tasteful organic coloration via its discrete-preamp design. The Atlas III also works well when overdriving other circuits.

The control knob sweep allows for a smooth fine-tuning of the gain amount. Our favorite use is with the Atlas directly in front of a tube amp, with the amp set right at the edge of breakup. Dial-in the Atlas III to push your tubes in the desired amount, bringing out your amp’s natural tube overdrive and compression.

Removing the back cover of the Atlas III, you will find an internal phase selection switch. The default setting is “in phase” (switch in the left position), while switching to the right reverses the phase of the input signal. This is extremely helpful when using a multiple amp set up, and studio situations where phase is an important factor. Some amps and pedals reverse the phase of your input signal; the Atlas III allows you to revert the phase, while also increasing gain if desired.

For battery access, remove the four screws on the bottom of the pedal to remove the bottom cover. A regulated 9v DC adapter with negative-center can be used, with the 2.1mm jack located next to the output jack (standard pedal style only).
This pedal utilizes true-bypass foot-switching. Unplugging the input jack disconnects the battery, so unplug the cable when not in use and save your battery!
