Subdecay Proteus Sample/Hold & Envelope Filter
User Guide

Introduction:

The Proteus mkII Improves upon the original with a new all analog
filter design and the addition of a resonance control and switchable low-pass and band-pass filters.
The Proteus mkII is both an envelope filter, and a tap tempo
sample/hold filter in one super compact pedal.
We added serious versatility while remaining focused on keeping
things simple. It’s still the ultimate plug and play filter pedal making it super easy to handle live.
Getting started:
For maximum headroom use a high quality 18 volt DC adapter with a
negative center 2.1mm barrel plug. 9 or 12 volts will work as well.
Once the Proteus mkII is plugged in and powered it will be in
envelope filter mode. Most of the controls do exactly what you’d
expect with the exception of the TAP/HOLD switch and the 1-2-4
multiplier toggle

To start sample/hold filter mode simply press the TAP/HOLD
switch four times in rhythm to to the tempo you want to use.
The sample/hold filter will start modulating at 1, 2 or 4 times the tempo depending on the multiplier toggle setting.

  • Bypass: Turns the effect on or off.
  • Depth: Controls how much the filter is modulated.
  • Frequency: Sets the resting point of the filter in envelope mode. Sets the center point of the filter in sample/hold mode. With the depth turned all the way down this control can be used to manually set the filter similar to a cocked wah effect.
  • Resonance: Controls the “Q” of the filter. That’s electronics talk though. It simply makes the filtering more intense as you turn it up.
  • LP-BP: Select between the low-pass or band-pass filter. The lowpass filter is more traditional like a wah sound. The bandpass is more intense.
  • Dual color LED: Lights up green to let you know the effect is on. Lights up in red with the filter modulation. This also lets you know which mode the filter is in even when it’s bypassed.
